Paycheck Fairness Act Fails

Yesterday, the “Paycheck Fairness Act” failed to pass in the Senate.  This act would allow our benevolent government to force evil employers to pay their workers fairly.  Details about how to determine the definition of “fair” would be on a case by case basis and would not be subject to any political influence.

Without this law, private enterprises routinely violate women’s rights by forcing them to accept lower wages than men.  These underpaid women have no recourse.  They would have to go through the difficult process of finding a different job or start a competing business of their own.  If they are unhappy with their pay, why should they have to go through all that hassle?

Mistakenly, some people believe that only a small percentage of employers discriminate against women.  However, Democrats point to the fact that “women still receive only 77 cents for every dollar paid to men doing the same job.”  The fact that this number is out of whack can only mean massive discrimination.

Conspiracy theorists like Warren Farrell claim that men earn more since they work more dangerous and disagreeable jobs.  While that may be true, why should those jobs pay more?  Since they aren’t popular and have fewer applicants, it shouldn’t drive their prices upwards.  The law of supply and demand isn’t fair and often makes me feel sad.  In fact, that law should be repealed!

While typing this entry up, I had a wonderful idea.  I’m going to start a company and hire only women.  I will give them a wage increase to 87 cents for every dollar paid to men doing the same job.  I will then lower the cost of my company’s TBD product by 13 cents.  This will drive the evil male pig companies right out of business and there will be much rejoicing.

I did some googling and found that a champion of women’s rights looked into this idea.  His research didn’t go as well as he had hoped and he became the very conspiracy theorist mentioned above…

Hmmmm…  If I decided to go the same route, would my views become evil and twisted as well?  OH NO!

  1. Oh what absolute MALARKY! When you state:

“Conspiracy theorists like Warren Farrell claim that men earn more since they work more dangerous and disagreeable jobs. While that may be true, why should those jobs pay more? Dangerous jobs ARE popular… BECAUSE they pay so much! If they didn;t pay well, then NO BODY would do them! I feel “sad” that you actually think the “Law of Supply and Demand” is actually a legal statute that should/could be repealed! Maybe while we are at it, we could repeal the “Law of Gravity” so we couild all fly, and the “Law of Cinservation of Matter” so we would never run out of energy! These are observed laws, not actually legal laws…. When I read such garbage as this, it makes me realize some Village is missing their idiot, but thankfully I found you and can safely return you to your role in life. I am sad that people like you are even allowed to own a computer, use the internet, or even reproduce!
